PARKERSBURG — The Anne Marie Silvis floral photography exhibit will be on display through September at WesBanco Bank, 415 Market St.

The exhibit may be viewed during regular business hours of Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m.-4 p.m.

Anne Marie Silvis Photography was born from a gift of a new camera from her husband on Valentine’s Day 2015. Between a pocket camera to make taking pictures of their adventures a much more portable option to a bigger, more sophisticated camera that would totally uplevel the family album, the decision was made that changed her life and career path.

Silvis has an advance degree in biology, having spent several years in research and as a biology professor. She always wanted to find that “creative” job.

“God provides and paves a path to the unimaginable. Embarking on this creative mission, I found a love for my new (more sophisticated) camera and sought every way I could to capture the beauty around me,” said Silvis.

She began her journey from just taking cool pictures to finding stories to ultimately envisioning the impact through her art. Shooting family sessions brings her such joy and is a constant reminder of why she loves her craft.

“Since fall 2018, I have jumped head first into a new niche: personal brand photography. This niche is completely dynamic and encompasses so many areas of photography. The best part about it is I learn people’s stories; I capture their stories. Their stories about the journey of building a business, the toils of balancing life and work, and all the things that impact them along the way,” she said.

One such person is Lyndsay Biehl, founder of Wildroot Flower Co., her muse for this gallery are flowers that she grows locally on her farm in Marietta. Biehl not only shares with Silvis for this gallery showing, but also with the community through workshops and local collaborations.
