Music in City Park
PARKERSBURG — The Parkersburg and Parkersburg South high schools marching bands will perform at 7 p.m. today at the bandshell in Parkersburg City Park. Their performances are part of Artsbridge’s Summer Music in the Park series. The rain location is the horseshoe pit shelter.
Baked Chicken Dinner
PARKERSBURG — A baked chicken dinner will be held 6 p.m. Friday at Parkersburg Knights of Columbus, 1010 Market St. The event is open to the public. Call in orders to 304-428-0331.
CAIRO — The New Era Astronomy Club will hold a free stargazing event beginning 8 p.m. Saturday at North Bend State Park to observe stars, planets and other celestial objects. Several large telescopes will be onsite and club members will assist anyone in attendance in observation. Participants can bring their own telescope or binoculars and will make a star chart to map the night sky anywhere. The event begins around 8 p.m. at North Bend Lodge with viewing after the program. The event will go on despite overcast skies.
White Cane Day
WILLIAMSTOWN — The Williamstown Lions Club will hold its annual White Cane Day from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday at the intersection of W.Va. 14 and Highland Avenue. The Lions will be soliciting donations for the club’s Sight Conservation Program to help preventable and reversible blindness. Used eyeglasses can be donated.
Car show and swap meet
MARIETTA — A Labor Day Benefit Car Show and Swap Meet will be held 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday at Rinky Dink’s parking lot on Ohio 7. Proceeds benefit Tim Atkins, a stage 4 cancer patient from Vienna. Registration begins at 9 a.m.
