ST. MARYS — The 2019 West Virginia River and Rail Bass Festival will be Friday through Sunday at the St. Marys Marina.

Back by popular demand this year’s headliner will be country singer and former American Idol contestant Bucky Covington, who has appeared numerous times on stages around the Mid-Ohio Valley, organizers said. He will perform at 8 p.m. Saturday.

The festival features two days of competition for fishermen from around the region, with the final weigh-in on Sunday, along with activities and entertainment at the marina for the community.

Other performers will include Missy Tuttle (Ohio Valley Idol winner), Jayden Bird, Band of Brothers, Community Band, Sour Mash String Band, Gary Tuttle Band, Dustin Shingleton, Corey Galbreath, Division Street and Stallion.

The festival will include vendors, concessions, inflatables and children’s games. Mike’s Taxidermy will be on hand all three days with animals to look at, along with a whitetail shoulder mount demonstration at 11 a.m. Saturday in the marina building.

File Photo Fishermen competing in the 2019 West Virginia River and Rail Bass Festival will have weigh-ins at 4 p.m. Saturday to cut the field and 4 p.m. Sunday to determine the winners.

Another attraction coming again this year is the Rollin Oldies Car Show on Sunday from 10:30 a.m.-2 p.m.

Shaun Douglas, chairman of the festival board, said first prize will be $15,000 this year with the total payout being $40,300. All boats will fish on Saturday, but the field will be cut to 65 boats — based on weight — for Sunday’s fishing.

Douglas also stated without great sponsors they have the festival and tournament would not be possible.
