Garden Plant and Bake Sale set for June 16
MARIETTA – The Unitarian Universalist Society of Marietta 2019 Garden Plant and Bake Sale will be held 1-5 p.m. June 16 at the church, 232 Third St.
The sale will include perennials, annuals, bulbs, plant divisions, seeds, native plants, house plants and succulents from local gardeners, gently used garden tools and planters. Among the donations are native anise hyssop, asters, liatris, ferns, foxgloves, hostas, bee balm and spiderwort.
Baked goods will be available in the church courtyard.
All sale proceeds go to the maintenance of the society’s 1857 Gothic Revival building designed by architect John Slocum, who also designed the Castle in Marietta.

New this year will be Blooms for Bloomsday.
Bloomsday is an annual commemoration of the life and work of James Joyce, held on June 16, the date when Joyce’s novel “Ulysses” takes place and named after the book’s protagonist, Leopold Bloom.
The Marietta event will feature readings of Irish poetry and a disc jockey playing Irish music.
The event will be held 2-4 p.m. in the courtyard or in the fellowship hall in case of rain.
Parking is available in the Huntington Bank lot, but do not to block the ATM and night deposit lanes.
