Guild Builders to wrap up ‘Aladdin Jr.’ performances

PARKERSBURG — “Aladdin Jr.,” the Guild Builders youth theater program of the Parkersburg Actors Guild makes it final run this weekend at the Guild Playhouse at Eighth and Market streets.

Tickets are $12 for adults and $6 for students. The show will be presented at 8 p.m. Friday, 2:30 and 8 p.m. Saturday and the recently added matinee at 2:30 p.m. Sunday

“Aladdin Jr.” features music by Alan Menken, lyrics by Howard Ashman, Tim Rice and Chad Beguelin, with book by Chad Beguelin. It is based on the Disney film and the 2014 Broadway production.

In the story, Aladdin and his three friends, Babkak, Omar, and Kassim, are down on their luck until Aladdin discovers a magic lamp and the genie who has the power to grant three wishes. Wanting to earn the respect of the princess, Jasmine, Aladdin embarks on an adventure that will test his will and his moral character.
