Gingery exhibit at WesBanco
PARKERSBURG — The Melony Gingery art exhibit may be viewed during January at WesBanco Bank, 415 Market St., Parkersburg.
The exhibit hours are Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Gingery is an artist, sculptor and dreamer. Her art exhibit will consist of work done with Alcohol Ink on Yupo paper paintings. Gingery’s sculptures are done in epoxy clay and mixed media.
As a self-taught artist, she has been working in these mediums for over four years.
Gingery is a Tamarack Best of West Virginia Juried Artist; a 2017-2018 Women of Appalachia Project Artist; FestivALL Artist and an ArtFields 2017 and 2018 alumni.
After experimenting with many mediums she has found her home in sculpture and painting with alcohol-based inks. A self-described dreamer, Gingery fills her art with movement, strength, emotion and whimsy. Inspiration comes from people she crosses paths with, childhood memories and hopes for the future.
Each sculpture is created using a layering technique and finished with a colorful, metallic patina.
Her paintings are created using a free flow or drip and pour method allowing the ink to create its own magic. Finishing touches are done with paint brushes or copic markers.
“Reality can be harsh for someone who lives in dreams. The sculptures and paintings I make are a depiction of how the two co-exist. Each piece holds a lesson that allows me to grow as an artist and a dreamer. With art I turn my reality into dreams and my dreams into reality,” said Gingery.
