Christmas Program

PARKERSBURG – The Parkersburg South High School Band will present a concert of traditional and holiday favorites at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the high school auditorium. The concert will feature the Jazz Ensemble, Freshman Concert Band and the Symphonic Band.

Admission is free, however, donations will be accepted at the door.

Christmas Music

NELSONVILLE, Ohio — Stuart’s Opera House is presenting an evening of holiday music with “A Legendary Christmas” on Friday at 7 p.m. This is a fundraiser for Stuart’s Opera House featuring Christmas music performed by Athens and Meigs counties performers from A Night with the Legends. A silent auction will take place throughout the evening in the Stuart’s Grand Lobby. The evening will be hosted by emcee Giles Lee. Tickets are on sale at (740) 753-1924 or stuartsoperahouse.org.

History program

MARIETTA — The next Brown Baggin’ Thru History program will be noon Friday at Campus Martius Museum. The program is free due to support from the Washington County Public Library. The guest speaker will be Steve Ball on “The Women of the Civil War.” The presentation is completely built on songs that were written about, or by, women during this period of history. Several of these tunes would become songs that would leave a permanent mark on American music, and change history in the process.

Pork Chop Dinner

PARKERSBURG — A stuffed pork chop dinner will be 6 p.m. Friday at Knights of Columbus, 1010 Market St. The event is open to the public. Call-in orders may be made by calling 304-428-0331.

Model Trains Open House

PARKERSBURG — The Mid-Ohio Valley Model Railroad Club will host its annual Holiday Open House from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the club facility, located in the rear basement of NOE Office Equipment at 610 Green Street. Trains will be running in HO, O, S, N and G scales. A train set will be raffled. Parking and admission are free with donations accepted to help offset the cost of running the trains.

Cookeez Sale

PARKERSBURG — A Cookeez Sale will be 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at First Lutheran Church, 1701 19th St. The cookies are $5 per dozen, along with green tomato pickles, assorted home baked items and crafts. All proceeds go to Habitat for Humanity.

Breakfast with Santa

PARKERSBURG — Knights of Columbus Council 594 will hold its Breakfast with Santa Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser from 8-11 a.m. Saturday at the St. Francis Xavier Parish Hall, 609 Market St. All proceeds benefit the Children’s Home Society and the Gustke Shelter to provide Christmas for the children in the shelter. Athens Art Guild

ATHENS, Ohio — The Athens Art Guild Annual Holiday Shoppe will be 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Athens Community Center, 701 E. State St.

More than 40 artists will sell their work in jewelry, glass, wood, ceramics, fiber, clothing and books, among others.

On Saturday, live entertainment will be Athens Community Singers at 11 a.m., SATB Choir at 1 p.m. and Athens Community Music School at 3 p.m. On Sunday, the entertainment is Celia and Charlie Lewis at 1 p.m. and Brucy and Gay Dalzell at 2:30 p.m. A kids art table where children can create a holiday item to take home also will be available. A raffle will be held to raise funds for primary and secondary education art teachers to purchase art supplies. Food vendors will be Holy Guacamole, A-Town Pies and Fries and Herbal Sage Tea Co.

Senior Dance and Dinner

PARKERSBURG — The Parkersburg Moose Lodge will host the monthly Senior Dance and Dinner from 5-8 p.m. Sunday at the lodge on W.Va. 95. The event is open, free of charge, to all area seniors 55 and older. Dress is casual. For additional information call the lodge at 304-422-6176.

Christmas Auction

PARKERSBURG — American Legion Post 15 will host a Christmas Auction on Sunday at the post home at 2505 Ohio Ave. The event is open to the public. Doors open at 1 p.m. and the auction begins at 2 p.m. A variety of Christmas items, crafts and food will be available. There will be raffle and 50/50 drawings.
