Mid-Ohio Valley Ringers to present Christmas concert

PARKERSBURG — The Mid Ohio Valley Ringers will present their Christmas concert at 4 p.m. Dec. 15 at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 1710 23rd St. in Parkersburg.

Admission is free but freewill offerings will be collected. The offertory will be a piano duet by Jimmy Sundquist and Jane Irvine.

The Mid Ohio Valley Ringers is West Virginia’s only bronze level community handbell choir, and has members from Parkersburg, Marietta, Williamstown, Little Hocking, Columbus and Charleston. They ring 6 octaves of Schulmerich handbells, ranging from G2-G8; 6 1/2 octaves of Malmark chimes, from C2-G8, 2 1/2 octaves of Silver Melody Bells, and a new addition of Jenco bells.

Weekly rehearsals are held at Wayside United Methodist Church in Vienna.

Members of the group include Larry Hawkins, Bryon Yetter, John Nicholson, Alvin Phillips, Jane Charnock, Gary Harris, Lois Coffey, Charlie Thomas, Jane Irvine, Beth Payton, Rob Hrezo, Jimmy Sundquist, Donna Thomas, and Marijean Stockwell. The conductor is Denise Holmes.

Joining the ensemble are percussionists Scott Kitchen and students.
