International film festival to be held locally
PARKERSBURG — The Culdee Arts Reel Entertainment (CARE) Awards provide an opportunity for artists globally to be recognized for their outstanding achievements in film, screenwriting and music.
This year, close to 100 entries have been submitted from 18 countries with special screenings, awards presentations, and workshops to be held Dec 7-8 at the Blennerhassett Hotel in Parkersburg.
Films range from animation shorts to full-length feature films, to international documentaries. Many of the selected entries have won numerous awards in festivals around the world.
“We are excited to bring this unique event to the Mid-Ohio Valley,” said Doc Benson, director of the CARE Awards. “This cultural opportunity helps broaden the interest in independent feature film for both viewers and filmmakers alike.”
There is no charge to attend the event, but seating is limited.
In addition to nationally known speakers such as industry insider Jamie Lee Smith, local author Cole Smith will also be presenting a workshop at the CARE Awards titled “To Blog or Not to Blog?”
“Attendees will leave the workshop with a blog title, tagline, a three-month outline, and a list of resources for starting from scratch,” said Smith.
