Ohio Valley Opry to hold performances

McCONNELSVILLE, Ohio – November is traditionally set aside to feature local talent at the Ohio Valley Opry, and this year’s lineup is sure to be a crowd favorite.

Appearing will be Ohio’s premier old-time string band the Wayfarers. Hailing from rural Southeast Ohio, The Wayfarers have been featured on the national PBS television series “Song of the Mountains”, toured much of the Midwest and Southern Appalachians. They emerged onto the scene in early 2010 playing their own form of American Roots music. Much of their repertoire is drawn from traditional Appalachian music centered largely by the fiddle – with the high energy that characterized early mountain music. Their spirited approach to live performance is infectious, and people of all ages are drawn in to the sounds of thumping washtub bass, driving guitars, sawing fiddles, and rich harmonies.

The Ohio Valley Opry is excited to be featuring two new female country artists who are making their debut- Maranda Lee from Marietta and Abby Ann Miller from Lancaster.

Maranda Lee’s love of music began at an early age when her father encouraged her to sing. He passed away when she was eight years old, but his desire for her to develop her singing talent has continued to motivate her. Maranda graduated from Marietta High School and is currently attending The Washington County Career Center pursuing a career as a chemical operator.

Since graduating high school this year, Abby Ann Miller has been in Nashville working with producers and recording songs. Besides being an aspiring country music singer, Abby also has a passion for missionary work, and travels to the Dominican Republic annually.

Returning to the show will be Matt Hansell from Waterford, and Opry regulars- Matt Coleman, Mike Morrison, The Clarks, and comic Uncle Doofus.

The popular OVO show is enjoying its eighteenth season and is held at the historic Twin City Opera House in McConnelsville. For tickets or more information, log onto www.OhioValleyOpry.com, or call 740-525-9218.
