PARKERSBURG — Amelia White, singer-songwriter from Nashville, will be performing in Parkersburg Saturday night as part of the Mid-Ohio Valley Americana Music Series.

The 7 p.m. show will mark White’s fifth visit to Parkersburg for the series.

White will be performing at Artsbridge at 925 Market St. and it will be the first stop on a two-week tour, which will include shows in her hometown of Nashville as well as a series of dates throughout the northeastern United States.

“I’m really looking forward to returning to Parkersburg; the series always treats me great, so you guys are the first show out of the gate,” White said. She will also find her way to New York, Massachusetts and Pennsylvania for a mix of headlining and opening shows.

Since her last Parkersburg performance in September 2017, White has toured the United Kingdom for her fourth and fifth times. “I have met some great players on my international tours, and I’ll be bringing one which plays upright bass on my upcoming tour. It has been a great experience to build off of each UK tour and to have it grow into something more each time with more and more fans coming to the shows,” White said.

In fact, her latest release was only released in the UK. “Rhythm of the Rain” was released there on Oct. 27, 2017 and was the result of material written while White was touring the UK in 2016.

“I did three weeks of touring the UK after the release last year, and then went back in July for a more extensive six-week tour which included performances at internationally acclaimed folk festivals like the Maverick and the Summertyme festivals,” White said. “This has opened doors to more shows, and I’ll be doing my first shows in The Netherlands in 2019.”

White is working on the release of a “deluxe version” of “Rhythm of the Rain,” which will include four new songs and will be the official U.S. release of her latest album.

Local songwriter Levi Westfall will return for his second MOVAMS performance and open the show. Westfall has performed numerous solo shows in the MOV, as well as shows with several bands.

“Levi is a great addition to our show; he’s one of many great young songwriters happening in the Mid-Ohio Valley right now,” said MOVAMS music coordinator Jeff Fox.

“We are always excited to work with Artsbridge,” said Fox. “It’s a tough task to find a suitable venue in the Parkersburg area for the style of show we seek to present, and when you add the mission of Artsbridge, I think there’s some serendipity for our organizations.”

Guests can bring snacks and their favorite beverages to enjoy responsibly. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with music beginning around 7 p.m.

“We work hard to present music in a friendly and attentive listening atmosphere; some of our regular attendees often bring some snacks … fans might bring some wine or some soft drinks to enjoy … and share the music respectfully among our supporters,” Fox said.

There will be a recommended donation of $10 for adults. A portion of the proceeds will help support the programs of the Parkersburg office of Children’s Home Society of West Virginia. For more information visit “MOV Americana Music Series” on Facebook or visit movamts.wordpress.com.
