BELPRE — The Mid-Ohio Valley Shaggers Dance Club will hold its 15th annual “Shaggin’ By the River” dance from 3-11 p.m. Saturday at the Belpre Shrine Club at 1255 Blennerhassett Ave.

The cost is $35 a person, which includes a dance workshop and dinner. Pre-registration is required for the dinner.

A dance workshop will be presented at 4 p.m. by Kevin and Dee Twohig, a pair of shag dance instructors from Charleston. The DJs for the evening are Kinsolving and Tim Miller. A catered “picnic” dinner will be 6 p.m.

The club holds Carolina Shag dancing from 7-9 p.m. each Thursday at American Legion Post 15 on Ohio Avenue in the Parkersburg Traffic Circle. For more information, contact Miller at 304-863-3323.

Club president Susan Shawver said the event will welcome dancers from West Virginia, Ohio, Virginia, South Carolina, Indiana and Florida. After more than a dozen years at an outdoor venue in Vienna, the event moved in 2017 to its new home at the Shrine Club in Belpre.

“This beautiful, air conditioned facility has a wooden dance floor and spacious kitchen,” Shawver said.
