Marietta ready for Sweet Corn Festival

MARIETTA — The Marietta Sweet Corn Festival will be this weekend at Muskingum Park in Marietta.

The festival will be 5-9 p.m. Friday and 11 a.m.-8 p.m. Saturday.

The primary attraction is $1 ears of corn donated by Witten Farm Market, along with other food vendors. The entertainment, children’s activities and other attractions will be free.

The festival promotes local agriculture and higher education. Proceeds from the festival are used to fund scholarships to Washington County high school seniors.

* Noon: Corn Eating Contest for ages 8-11

* 12:20 p.m.: Corn Eating Contest for ages 12-15

* 12:40 p.m.: Corn Eating Contest for ages 16 and up
