Interstate Fair to run through July 21

MINERAL WELLS — The 2018 West Virginia Interstate Fair and Exposition will feature five days of live entertainment, activities, carnival rides and other attractions on Butcher Bend Road near Mineral Wells.

The fair, which begins July 17 and runs through July 21, will also feature track events for ATVs, trucks and tractors, youth, 4-H activities and competitions and more.

Admission is $9 per day from Tuesday through Thursday and $10 per day on Friday and Saturday. A three-day pass is $22 and a five-day pass is $35. The multi-day passes do not include carnival rides. Advance tickets available until the first day are $8 and do include carnival rides.

There are also a couple of special admission days. Senior Citizens Day is Tuesday when all seniors ages 60 and over admitted for $5. Armed Forces Day is Thursday when active military personnel are admitted free with an active duty or active reserve duty military ID.

Carnival rides are free with the purchase of an admission ticket. Carnival hours are 6-11 p.m. Tuesday, 2-11 p.m. Wednesday, 4-11 p.m. Thursday and Friday and 1-11 p.m. Saturday.

This year’s entertainment lineup includes Adam Calvert on July 17, karaoke on July 18, Thunderstruck (AC/DC Tribute Band) on July 19, Exile on July 20 and Ryan Cain and the Ables and Presley and Taylor on July 21.

* Based in Raleigh, N.C., the AC/DC tribute band Thunderstruck features Lee Robinson, Jeff Young, Paul Jacobs, George Onda, Karrin Dalton and Yance Covington. The band was also featured at last year’s festival

* The country group Exile has a variety of hits, including “Kiss You All Over,” “Woke Up in Love,” “I Don’t Want to Be a Memory,” “Give Me One More Chance,” “Crazy For Your Love,” “She’s a Miracle,” “Hang On to Your Heart,” “I Could Get Used to You,” “It’ll Be Me,” “She’s Too Good to Be True” and “I Can’t Get Close Enough.”

* The final performance of the festival will feature the sister duo Presley and Taylor, an up-and-coming country act from Nashville. Their songs include originals and covers like “Heart Over Mind,” “Tall, Dark and Lonesome,” “Jolene” and “Fishing in the Dark.”
