New Era Kite Festival to be held May 12-13

MINERAL WELLS — The ninth annual New Era Kite Festival, which was postponed twice this year, has been scheduled for 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 12-13 at the Mineral Wells Elementary School Campus, 1838 Elizabeth Pike.

Free kites to the first 50 kids will be available. Also planned are bouncy houses for a small fee, free popcorn by Hope Freewill Baptist Church, free kite history and safety classes at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., free tours of the one-room school, kite building classes for children for a small fee, awards for various kite categories, large show kites, kite displays, banners, giant pinwheels and windsocks, concessions and free train rides for kids.
