Fairy Tale Ball slated for May 19 in Parkersburg

PARKERSBURG — The Children’s Home Society of West Virginia is holding its fourth annual Fairy Tale Ball beginning at 6 p.m. May 19 at the Nemesis Shrine Center in Parkersburg.

Admission is $50 per person and $80 per couple and formal attire is requested. Tickets are available at the CHS at 1717 St. Marys Ave. in Parkersburg or by calling 304-485-0650.

The event will feature live music, food, carriage rides, a silent auction, photos and a social hour followed by a cash bar.

CHS Regional Director Shelley Plauche-Adkins said the goal of the event is to raise awareness and funds for the agency’s foster care and adoption programs. This year’s theme is “All Children Deserve a Happily Ever After.”

May is also National Foster Care Month, which is another reason the ball is held at this time of the year, she said.

For the third year, the McKinley All Star Band has volunteered its time and talents to provide the musical entertainment for the event, Plauche-Adkins said. The band is comprised of current and past educators from McKinley Elementary School.

Currently over 6,500 children reside in some type of out of home care, and 1,200 of these children are available for adoption.
