Artsbridge to offer Market Street Merchants and Artists Walks

PARKERSBURG — Artsbridge will present a pair of Market Street Merchants and Artists Walks in June and September in downtown Parkersburg.

The first will be 5-7 p.m. June 1 and the second will be the same time Sept. 7, with all businesses on Market Street invited to participate.

One of the special events during the Walk will be a one-night only art show at 6 p.m. June 1 at the Dils Center.

This show is free to attend and donations will be accepted and will go toward the Dils Center roof repair. Musical guests will be We are Funhouse and Jake Eddy. The featured artists will be Cam Benson, Brooklyn Ewing, Eli Tracewell and others.

“This is the second year for the event and it is already bigger and better,” said Amanda Stevens with Artsbridge.

File Photo Piper Rutter, of Parkersburg, learns about making pottery from Casey Cutlip, a member of the pottery group at the Parkersburg Art Center, during last year’s Market Street Merchants and Artists Walk. This year’s event will be June 1 in downtown Parkersburg.

“Last year we had 23 businesses and organizations along Market Street participate and this year we already have over 30! The event is a free celebration of art, music, craftsmanship and the growing downtown shopping, dining and business district.”

The event goes from the corner of 13th and Market streets down by the Wood County Courthouse. The Point Park Market Place is also participating and Downtown PKB will kick off its Point Park Concert Series on June 1 at 8 p.m.

“We are hoping to bring the concert crowd downtown a little earlier and see and hear the music, visual and performing arts that will be showcased at each site,” Stevens said. “The participating places will have a purple, A-frame Artsbridge sign out front that says Market Street Merchants & Artists Walk. Maps will be available for the public at the event,” she said.
