Mid Ohio Valley Ballet Company to perform ‘Rapunzel’

MARIETTA — The Mid Ohio Valley Ballet Company will present a new original ballet “Rapunzel” on April 13 at Marietta High School Auditorium.

The show will begin at 7 p.m. The ballet is based on the classic original story with new , original choreography by Suzy Gunter.

Reserved seat tickets for the ballet are $15 for adults and $6 for children under 18. Tickets can be purchased at the MOVB Offices, 1311 Ann St., Parkersburg, where box office hours are Tuesday and Thursday from 4:30-7 p.m. and Wednesday from 4:30-6 p.m. or by calling 304-422-5538.

After April 10, tickets will still be available at the studio box office through April 12 with check or cash as form of payment only. Tickets will also be available at the door the night of the performance and will be box office choice only.

Specially priced group tickets are also available by calling the MOVB offices for more information.

Guest artists include Kith Held as Rapunzel and Bryan Cunningham as the Prince. The Sorceress will be portrayed by MOVB Company Principal Dancer Joiene Troisi and Apprentice and Trainee members of the MOVB and 40 students from the MOVB Academy will round out the cast.

MOVB is a professional, non-profit dance group that performs over 30 concerts, lecture demonstrations and Arts in Education performances annually.

MOVB has toured extensively throughout West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Ohio since 1983 presenting specially produced one hour versions of the current ballet through the highly acclaimed “School Days Performing Arts Series.”

This special arts in education program has allowed over 30,000 public school children to see a live arts performance who may otherwise never have the opportunity.
