Parkersburg Area Community Foundation announces scholarships available

PARKERSBURG — The Parkersburg Area Community Foundation and Regional Affiliates has announced the availability and application process for four scholarships:

* The Ambrose-Ramsey Trust, which provides a scholarship for individuals who have graduated from a Wood County high school and will further their education in study of Methodist ministry. Eligibility requirements are the student must be a graduate of Parkersburg High, Parkersburg South, Parkersburg Catholic or Williamstown High School and desire to further their education in Methodist ministry. Recipients are selected by an independent scholarship advisory committee. The scholarship can be applied toward tuition, books or other education related costs. Application deadline is March 1. * The Robert Storck Memorial Scholarship to support Wood County residents pursuing non-traditional courses of study. An applicant must be a Wood County resident and will pursue any level or type of post-secondary education, with emphasis on students pursuing non-traditional courses of study, such as vocational or technical training or apprenticeship programs, seminar training, or musical training; development of skills in the educational training, business training; support for skill development for a person on sabbatical leave; adult learners pursuing college-level education, technical training, or certificate programs; graduate-level students; and students pursuing seminary studies. Non-traditional students are invited to apply. Selection is based on financial need, desire to improve the quality of life for others, moral and spiritual character. * S. William and Martha R. Goff Permanent Educational Fund provides scholarships for students who have attended high school in Wood County for at least two years and are entering or are in medical school. Selection is based on merit and need. Recipients are selected by an independent committee. The scholarship can be applied toward tuition, books or other education related costs. To apply, go to pacfwv.com/Scholarships/Apply to access the Consolidated Scholarship Application. Deadline is March 1.

* The Wood County Bar Association Memorial Scholarship provides a scholarship for students who are attending an accredited law school in the United States. Applicants must meet be attending an accredited law school in the United States and have a connection to Wood, Jackson, Ritchie, Wirt, Pleasants or Washington counties. Recipients are selected by an independent committee. The scholarship can be applied toward tuition, books or other education related costs. Application deadline is March 1.
