Acts of Renewal to perform at St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church
PARKERSBURG — The national touring theater company Acts of Renewal will present the Christmas show “Rediscovering Christmas” 2 p.m. today at St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church, 1210 20th St.
Professional actors Jim and Carol Anderson-Shores will engage the audience with vignettes about the wonder, hilarity and joy of Christmas.
The Anderson-Shores have been featured on PBS and have performed with Family Life and the nationally syndicated radio show “FamilyLife Today.”
“Rediscovering Christmas” is comprised of vignettes that range from the opening comedic tale of two blue collar shepherds who are in the right place at the right time on Christmas Eve, dealing with in-laws at Christmas and an irrepressible Jamaican wiseman who retells the Christmas story in a “never-heard-before way.”
“We’ve performed this show throughout the country sometimes being asked to return a second and third time because of how audiences respond,” Carol Anderson-Shores said. “There’s always a lot of laughter and by the end a sense of connection and celebration that I think people long to find during this season.”
Admission is $5 and children 12 and under are free. Tickets are available at the door.
Refreshments will be served after the performance. St. Andrew’s is at 1210 20th St., Parkersburg.
