Great Bowls of Fire Chili Cookoff to be held Saturday
PARKERSBURG — The seventh annual Great Bowls of Fire Chili Cookoff will be 2-5 p.m. Saturday at the Point Park Marketplace, 113 Ann St.
The competition is judged in three categories: traditional, non-traditional and vegetarian. A People’s Choice winner is determined by the audience. Entrees will be accepted until today. Rules and registration information is available at the marketplace’s website, pointparkmarketplace.com/news.php.
The entry fee is $25 if the competitor has their own tent or $75 if the marketplace supplies the tent. All entrants must be under a tent.
Contestants may enter more than one recipe. Contestants are asked to make at least four gallons of chili. One pint should be reserved for the judges.
Admission is $12 in advance at the marketplace, which is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. Tickets will be $15 at the door on Saturday.
The Great Bowls of Fire Chili Cookoff was created six years ago by the Chamber of Commerce of the Mid-Ohio Valley. It has been held at the Point Park Marketplace for several years, with marketplace officials organizing it this year.
