Walk to End Alzheimer’s nears funding goal
WILLIAMSTOWN — As the Walk to End Alzheimer’s gets closer to starting, organizers say they have raised more than $40,000 of their goal before the walk begins.
“Currently we have raised $43,500 toward our $60,000 goal with more donations coming in daily,” said Susie Warman, regional coordinator, Alzheimer’s Association West Virginia chapter. “There are 56 teams and 445 participants currently registered. We expect more to register up to and including the day of the walk. Our goals are 75 teams and 650 participants.”
This year’s walk will be Saturday in Tomlinson Park, Williamstown. Check in opens at 8 a.m. Plan B will play music from 8:30-9:30 a.m. with the opening ceremony at 9:30 a.m. with John D. Green from Froggy 99 as emcee.
Walkers will go from Tomlinson Park across the Williamstown Bridge, which will be closed, to Don Drumm Stadium in Marietta, where there will be a short speech by Mayor Joe Matthews. Afterward, the walk will make its way back to Tomlinson Park for the closing ceremonies at 11:15 a.m. People can register at alz.org/walk.
