Twins celebrate 90th birthdays

VIENNA — Twins Lindel Marshall Lantz and Lila Marshall Eagle celebrated their 90th birthdays at Lantz’s home in Vienna on Sept. 3.

Four generations of family members were among the 40 family and friends attending the birthday celebration.

Betty Augustine Rollins, of Parkersburg, who graduated with the twins, attended the birthday party. They have been friends since attending Parkersburg High School together.

Also attending was Lantz and Eagle’s sister, Eleanor Baker of Vienna, who turned 93 years old in June.

Lindel and Lila were born Sept. 3, 1927, the twin daughters of the late Virginia and Perla Marshall in Parkersburg. They are 1945 graduates of Parkersburg High School, where they were members of the A Cappella Choir.

Lindel and Lila enjoyed raising their children, gardening and their love of dachshunds, Lindel preferred long-haired dachshunds while Lila preferred the smooth dachshunds.

Both are lifetime members of First Lutheran Church in Parkersburg, and always enjoyed doing things together until about four years ago when Lila began to suffer from dementia, their family said.

Lindel was employed by South Penn Natural Gas before starting her family.

Lila retired from C&P Telephone in 1980 after 35 years of service. She resides at Eagle Pointe in Parkersburg.
