Party with a Purpose Gala slated

Aug. 25 fundraiser for SW Resources

VIENNA — SW Resources will hold its second annual Party with a Purpose Benefit Gala, a major fundraiser for the organization, 6-11 p.m. Aug. 25 at the Grand Pointe Conference Center.

The gala replaced the former SW Resources auction. The first gala last year raised 20 percent more than the previous year.

Performing will be Hip Pocket, a local rock ‘n’ roll band. Guests can have professional portraits taken by Spencer Imageworks.

The event includes dinner, drinks and desserts from Downtown Specialty Bakery, hand-painted glasses by individuals employed by SW Resources and door prizes to be awarded throughout the night.

Participants can bid on items from the silent auction tables. Items include tickets to Walt Disney World and Dollywood, diamond earrings retailing at $699 from Buttermore and Sons Jewelers, a limited edition Dave Fetty Fenton Courthouse vase, Coach Sunglasses from Vienna Eye Clinic and gift cards from Colombo’s and Spats.

SW Resources is a nonprofit organization in Parkersburg that serves 250 individuals with disabilities by providing vocational rehabilitation services, employment and high school transition services allowing individuals to reach their fullest potential and become gainfully employed in the communities they live. SW Resources also provides a community food and hygiene pantry to those in need in the community.
