PARKERSBURG — Mosaic artists displaying their work at WesBanco Bank this month are Charlene Dawson, Lisa Braham, Colin Kelley, Linda Alexander and Jenny Ferruso. Forrest Ash and Kristi Garrison are additional mosaic artists.

SW Resources mosaic artists will take special orders by calling 304-428-6344. All the pieces are sold at SW Resources as well as at art fairs around the area and the state. Many of the pieces on display at WesBanco Bank, on Market Street, are for sale.

SW Resources provides training and employment opportunities to individuals with disabilities. The Marble Tree Division is the artistic division of SW Resources and was established four and a half years ago. The mosaics started as a way for the client employees to express themselves.

“Each mosaic starts with a line drawing with the artist using the recycled magazines to create their color palette for the mosaic. Then the magazines are cut into tiny pieces and glued into place,” said Joyce Boone, Print Room supervisor.

The pieces take between two weeks and a month to create depending on the complexity of the piece. The artists enjoy art as a hobby and a way of expressing themselves.

A mosaic is chosen each year to be displayed and auctioned at the annual SW Resources Golf Classic with a golf related theme.

Artist Forrest Ash won the Dr. Ghassan Khalil Award at the Parkersburg Art Center Regional Competition. Forrest and Kristi Garrison won an Award of Excellence at the W.Va. Diversifying Perspectives Art Contest.

The SW Resources Mosaic Art Work will be on display at WesBanco Bank, 415 Market St., during July.
