WVUP students elect Student Government Association officers

PARKERSBURG — Students at West Virginia University at Parkersburg have elected the new Student Government Association officers for the 2017-2018 academic year.

Austin Grimmett of Elizabeth was elected president for the term.

“I am honored and thankful that the students have entrusted me to this key position,” said SGA President-elect Austin Grimmett, “Our college is great because of the people we have-starting with the students and going all the way up to the faculty, staff and administration. I am very excited to work with so many talented people in my new role at SGA.”

The WVU Parkersburg Student Government Association’s purpose is to develop joint responsibility among students, staff, faculty and administration for the achievement of the college’s educational objectives.

“The Student Government Association is a core part of the college planning and decision-making process,” said Anthony Underwood, vice president for student services at WVU Parkersburg. “I congratulate the new officers on their acceptance of this significant honor.”

Executive cabinet members include Justin Bosley of Parkersburg as vice president of the WVU Parkersburg campus and Colin Hill of New Haven as vice president of WVU Parkersburg’s Jackson County Center.

In addition to the cabinet, Daniel Steele of Mineral Wells was named as secretary and treasurer.

Elected senators are Fae Blosser of Parkersburg, Jenny Blosser of Mineral Wells, Marshall Campbell of Vienna, Morgan Carez of Parkersburg, Clayton Gibbs of New Haven, Benjamin Houghton of Mineral Wells, Tonya Morrison of Palestine, Sharon Marshall O’Neill of Parkersburg, Joseph Pitts of St. Marys, Quinton Sells of Ravenswood and Tyler Smith of Kenna.
