Couple caught in Athens endangerment case

ATHENS, Ohio — A Nelsonville couple who absconded before being convicted on charges stemming from the ongoing abuse of their infant daughter has been arrested in Franklin County.

Kayla Fannon, 26, and Samuel A. Thompson, 31, were found guilty last week of second- and third-degree felony counts of endangering children and a third-degree felony count of permitting abuse. They did not appear for the fifth day of their trial, which proceeded without them the next week, resulting in a guilty verdict on May 17.

According to a release from the Athens County Prosecutor’s Office, Fannon and Thompson were arrested today at the Budget Inn Motel in Lockbourne, Ohio.
