Dining with Diabetes class offered

PARKERSBURG — The West Virginia University Wood County Extension Office will offer a Dining with Diabetes class from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesdays beginning April 5 at Emmanuel Baptist Church on 23rd Street in Parkersburg.

Dining with Diabetes is a once-a-week class that runs for four weeks with a three-month follow-up class. This class is open to those with diabetes and their family members.

The classes are free, but space is limited and per-registration is required.

Participants are encouraged to attend all class sessions.

People will learn how to prepare meals that are healthy, easy to prepare and tasty, sponsors said.

Participants will have the opportunity to taste each one.

Participants will also learn up-to-date information on nutrition, meal planning, and exercise and how to understand common diabetes-related medical tests. Recipes and handouts will be given to each participant.

Registration for this program can be made by calling the Wood County Extension Office at 304-424-1960.
