PARKERSBURG — GFWC South Parkersburg Woman’s Club’s Little Free Library at Southwood Park celebrated its grand opening on Nov. 13.

The library is located in the flowerbed adopted and maintained by the Woman’s Club for the past several years. Visitors can access the Little Free Library from the Al Smith Stage parking lot off Belmont Road. The library features two shelves of books with the lower shelf dedicated to books for children and young readers.

The library was constructed by Melvin Wermter. He and his wife Cathi Wermter, co-president of the club, donated the library in support of the club’s commitment to education and literacy. Mr. Wermter will handle maintenance of the Little Library.

Members of the Woman’s Club will maintain and restock the books as needed and will sponsor reading related special events from time to time. The first special event will feature Christmas themed books and started Dec. 1.
