Tanya Tucker to hit Marietta stage Dec. 9

MARIETTA — The Tanya Tucker benefit concert for the Washington County Foster Family Foundation postponed from October will be held 8 p.m. Dec. 9 at the People’s Bank Theatre.

Tucker rescheduled the concert because of respiratory issues. Many of her fall shows were canceled.

“But we’re really excited that she was able to reschedule ours especially since it’s a benefit concert,” said Hunt Brawley, executive director of the Peoples Bank Theatre. “We’re glad she’s able to make it so that the fundraiser still happens.”

Tickets purchased for the Oct. 21 show are good for Dec. 9, he said. Less than 80 seats are available and prices are $39 to $69.

“Everybody’s excited and all of our corporate sponsors stayed with us even with the new date,” said Doug Mallett, co-underwriter for the event. “The proceeds will go to seed the beginning of our new foundation to help kids who were dealt a rougher hand.”

The Washington County Foster Family Foundation was founded by Mallett and his partner Jim Vuksic to fill the gap between county funds for Washington County Children Services and what foster families can provide.

“Our vision is to provide a pool of funds to help with the extras for foster kids whether that’s participating in little league or dance lessons, it gives these kids the same opportunities as everyone else,” said Mallett. “It should be a fun evening supporting a great cause and our goal is to raise as much money as we can.”

Corporate sponsors for the event include 339 Auto Sales, The Citizens Bank Co., Theisen Brock, Haessly Hardwood Lumber Co., Pioneer Chevrolet Cadillac/Family Ford Lincoln, DaVinci’s Fine Italian Restaurant, Heinrich Production LLC, Susan K.
