PARKERSBURG –The Parkersburg Art Center is bringing back its Halloween-themed “MasqueRave” masquerade ball on Friday at the corner of Eighth and Market streets in downtown Parkersburg.

The ball will be 8-11 p.m. Friday with a DJ, photo booth, costume contests, refreshments and more.

Tickets are $35 per person or $50 per couple at the door. Advance tickets are $25 per person and $40 per couple and are available at the art center, from any PAC-Pal member or on the center’s website at parkersburgartcenter.org.

This year’s ball is being organized by a new group which has formed to support the art center’s programs and activities, said Kasey Snyder, event planning chair for the Parkersburg Art League, also called the PAC Pals.

The group formed earlier this year and helped with a Western-themed fundraiser. Snyder said the MasqueRave is the first event the PAC Pals have organized and promoted from start to finish themselves.

Snyder said a number of local businesses are sponsoring and providing services for the ball, including Premiere Productions which is providing the DJ, Smoker Friendly which is providing the bar, and Crown Event Rentals is providing decorations.

In addition to entertainment and activities, the PAC Pals will also be selling raffle tickets for some unique items, Snyder said. The raffle tickets are $20 each and follow a deck-of-cards format, with 52 chances to win.

Leading up to Friday’s ball, the PAC Pals have also been giving away tickets through a find-the-pumpkin game in the Parkersburg area.

Since Monday, organizers have been hiding a pumpkin around Parkersburg, one per day. The art center has been posting a photo on social media with a clue to the pumpkin’s location.

The rules are find the party pumpkin, take a selfie with it and post it to social media with the hashtag #PACpartypumpkin and win two free tickets for the ball. The finder also gets to keep the pumpkin.

Snyder said the PAC Party Pumpkin game will continue today and Friday.

All proceeds from the party go to supporting the oldest arts organization in West Virginia in continuous operation, Snyder said of the ball and other activities. Now in its fifth home, the art center is located on a busy corner right downtown Parkersburg. For more details check out the Facebook page and website parkersburgartcenter.org/
