Transit authority discusses Dec. 26 holiday

PARKERSBURG — The Mid-Ohio Valley Transit Authority Board of Directors discussed on Tuesday if the Easy Rider buses should run on Dec. 26.

Tim Thomas, general manager for the Mid-Ohio Valley Transit Authority, said because many businesses will be closed on Dec. 26 it is unclear if the buses will run.

If the buses do run, the drivers will be paid holiday pay on top of their regular pay for Dec. 26, he said.

Board member Tim Penn said he believes the Easy Rider buses should run that day because the Mid-Ohio Valley Transit Authority is here for the community.

The board also discussed the Easy Rider bus drivers’ new uniforms that were issued.

Instead of the regular pull-over shirts, the Easy Rider drivers will now have button-up shirts that are “Hawaiian Punch Red” with black pants.

The shirts will still have the Easy Rider logo on them.

Each driver for Easy Rider will receive a new uniform within the next few weeks, said Thomas.  The cost for the uniforms is about $200 per driver, said Thomas. Easy Rider paid around $6,400 for all of the new uniforms for 32 drivers.
