Parkersburg Homecoming Chess Tournament results announced
PARKERSBURG – Results of the 24th annual Parkersburg Homecoming Chess Tournament have been announced.
Twenty players participated. Results are used to calculate national ratings by the U.S. Chess Federation.
Results are:
* 1st: Grant Perks, Thornville, Ohio.
* 2nd: Michael Felton, Grafton, W.Va.
* 3rd, tie: David Hines, Wiley Ford, W.Va.; John Everett Roush, Ripley; Lewis Sanders, Charleston.
* Under 1800 Rating Class: Matthew Campbell, Morgantown.
* Under 1300 Rating Class: Charles McCallister, Ripley.
A Non-Rated Tournament was also held. Players who were not nationally rated were eligible to play in the non-rated tournament. The results were:
* 1st: Gavin Yost, Davisville
* 2nd: Anthony Jenkins Walker
The tournament director was Craig Timmons of St. Albans. Assistant director was Patrick Kelly, Marietta.
The Mid-Ohio Valley Chess Club meets 5-8 p.m. second and fourth Wednesdays of the month at the Vienna Public Library, 2300 River Road, and 5-8 p.m. third Wednesdays of the month at the Serenity Coffee House, 1903 Grand Central Ave., Vienna.
