Parkersburg Homecoming Festival’s Best Seat contest accepting entries

PARKERSBURG – Someone and a friend will have the Best Seat in the House for all of the main stage entertainment during the 2016 Parkersburg Homecoming Festival.

Value City Furniture is now taking entries for someone to win two recliner chairs to be placed at the front of the Suddenlink Stage during the annual festival on Aug. 19-21 to be able to watch the concerts and all the other performances there.

The winner will be able to take the chairs home Sunday night, Aug. 21.

“Value City has graciously donated two recliners and we will have a drawing to pick the winner,” Parkersburg Homecoming Festival President Sherry Valentine said. “The seats will be set up on a platform so the winner and one guest can watch all the concerts in the recliners and watch all of the concerts for the weekend.”

Potential winners have to be able to have the chairs picked up from the Homecoming grounds the evening of Aug. 21 after the final concert has been concluded, officials said. The chairs will not be delivered.

The Parkersburg Value City store, which has been doing this contest since the mid-2000s, is donating two “nice sitting recliners,” said Store Manager Tony Green.

The chairs are generally a nice size that can fit easily in a number of homes, he said.

Green is glad to have Value City be able to participate in the Parkersburg Homecoming Festival.

“It is always nice to feel like you are being a part of the community,” he said.

Green commended many of the Homecoming officials in the work they have done for the festival and working to give this contest a lot of exposure.

“It really gets us out there,” he said. “I just enjoy doing it.

“It was always something that created a little buzz.”

People have until 2 p.m. Aug. 12 to fill out an entry card at the customer service desk. The drawing will be held around 2:30 p.m. that day.

Homecoming officials said the entertainment line-up for the 2016 Homecoming Festival will be announced soon.
