Mortons leaving Parkersburg Salvation Army
PARKERSBURG – The Parkersburg Salvation Army headquarters will receive new leadership in July, according to Charles Nutt, the Maryland and West Virginia divisional development director.
Majors Mike and Nettie Morton, who came to Parkersburg from El Paso, Texas, in June 2015, are departing, Nutt said Wednesday. “It’s the typical time of transfer for Salvation Army officers,” Nutt said from his Baltimore office.
“They have received their farewell orders and their official last day is July 24.” Nutt did not say where the Mortons would be stationed next.
He said the new leaders of the Parkersburg headquarters have been selected, but would not release the name of the officers who will be stationed here in place of the Mortons.
“That announcement is forthcoming at a later time,” Nutt said.
Parkersburg’s Salvation Army headquarters is located at 534 Fifth St. The Salvation Army property includes the Thrift Store, food pantry and homeless shelter.
The Parkersburg Salvation Army serves Wood, Pleasants, Ritchie, Wirt, Jackson and Calhoun counties.
