Local zombie movie to be shown again

PARKERSBURG – A second show has been scheduled for a zombie movie filmed in Parkersburg after the first show in October in Athens sold out, the director said on Thursday.

The first showing of “ReZistance” by Black T Productions will be 7 p.m. Oct. 18 at the Athena Cinema, 20 S. Court St., Athens.

Tickets have sold out for the Athens show, so a second show will be held 7 p.m. Oct. 25 at the Twin City Opera House in McConnelsville, Ohio, said Mark Colombo, a writer and director.

Tickets are on sale for the McConnelsville show at $7.50 each, Colombo said. Tickets can be purchased through Colombo on Facebook at the Black T Productions site at facebook.com/blacktproductions.

“ReZistance” is about Luke and his sister Greta, who were raised in West Virginia. He eventually retired as a police officer, but Greta falls to the forces of the darkside in the woods.

Then zombies invade Parkersburg where survivors, including Luke, fight the horde of the walking dead. They attempt to strike at the source of the outbreak where Luke finds his sister and maybe the way to stop the zombies.

Colombo hoped for a local venue to show the movie, “but Parkersburg doesn’t support local talent,” Colombo said.

Colombo cited the difficulties last year when another movie, “Pro Wrestler vs. Zombies,” which also includes local performers and stars Rowdy Roddy Piper, attempted to debut at the Smoot Theatre.

“ReZistance” has neither nudity nor foul language, Colombo said.

“However, there’s going to be a little bit of fake blood because it is a zombie movie,” he said.

It’s difficult to find anything local, Colombo said.

The theaters at the mall and in Marietta are corporate operations while the Peoples Bank Theater in Marietta, formerly the Colony, would show the movie, but is closed until 2015, he said.

Felice Jorgeson, executive director at the Smoot, hasn’t been contacted from the producers of “ReZistance,” but she’s not too interested.

It’s a domino effect as one zombie movie leads to another zombie movie, she said.

“Then what do you got?” she said. “We’re inundated with zombie movies.”
