Westbrook Health Services plans fitness competition
PARKERSBURG – As part of Westbrook Health Services 65th anniversary, Westbrook and Mountain River CrossFit are announcing Summer Slam, a competition, fitness and fundraiser on June 28 at Mountain River CrossFit’s new facility at 415 36th St.
A spaghetti dinner will be held 9 a.m.-noon June 27. The Sisters of St. Joseph Charitable Fund, Highmark West Virginia and CWS have agreed to co-sponsor the event.
The funds will benefit Westbrook’s Making Change Client Fund which supports clients in purchasing Christmas presents, emergency medications and emergency funds.
The competition is intended to encourage the importance of keeping physical and mental health on target. Individual and group events allow local participants to show off their stuff and compete for cash prizes, Liz Ford, Westbrook marketing coordinator, said.
“Westbrook Health Services, Inc. takes great pride in empowering people with behavioral challenges to reach their greatest potential. Mountain River CrossFit works daily to improve the physical health and well-being of our community. Working together Westbrook and Mountain River CrossFit, will provide an opportunity for people to come together to compete for a worthy cause, learn the connection between healthy physical and mental well-being and help reduce the stigma associated with behavioral health issues,” Ford said.
There will be $300 in cash prizes, team and individual competitions, all skill levels are welcome. Individual entry is $35; teams are $100 and include a T-shirt and spaghetti dinner.
Sponsors for the event are being sought. Sponsorship levels are: Platinum $750; Gold $500, and Silver, $250.
