Tours, festivals seek volunteers

PARKERSBURG-Area residents are being sought to volunteer and support local fairs and festivals this year. The Greater Parkersburg Convention & Visitors Bureau will host an open house for fair/festival volunteers June 4 from 6:30-8 p.m. in the Judge Black Annex (Fort Boreman Room).

“Since I have been back in Parkersburg, I have been impressed with the commitment and dedication displayed by the volunteer boards that manage many of our fairs and festivals,” said Mark Lewis, Greater Parkersburg CVB president and CEO. “The CVB wants to help support these special events by providing an opportunity for them to recruit new volunteers. Volunteering is a great way to meet new friends, have some fun, and give back to the community.”

There is no cost to attend.

Light refreshments will be served. Those interested in volunteering with one of Wood County’s annual fairs and festivals will have an opportunity to meet representatives from each event, learn more about the event, and how to contribute with their time.

Events to be featured are Mid-Ohio Valley Multi-Cultural Festival, West Virginia Interstate Fair & Exposition, Parkersburg Homecoming, West Virginia Honey Festival, Harvest Moon Arts & Crafts Festival, Volcano Days Festival, Mansion by Candlelight, and Holiday In the Park.
