FaithLink finds new parent agency

PARKERSBURG – Community Resources on Thursday became the new administrative agency for the FaithLink and child care food programs.

Both these programs have proven to be very effective in providing needed services to our communities and provide the opportunity to coordinate with and complement the existing programs provided by Community Resources, said Jessica Moyer, development manager for the agency.

FaithLink assists seniors, those with a disability or chronic illness to maintain independence in their home. These services are provided by a volunteer base of approximately 150 members who provide transportation and other assistance services.

To inquire about these services or learn more about the program, call 304-485-9238, extension 31 or email at: FaithLink@cricap.org

The program provides reimbursement for meals and snacks to child care providers who care for children in their home in the same counties served by Community Resources. For more information on this program, contact Lynn Greenly at 304-485-9238, extension 18 or email CCFP@cricap.org.

Community Resources provides immediate emergency assistance, safe and affordable housing, home improvements for weatherization designed to reduce energy consumption, family development counseling, financial counseling and individual development accounts, free income tax preparation, social security representative payee and senior apartment housing.

“The impact and strength of these programs already is substantial,” Executive Director Lewis Newberry said. “Collaborating with them under the umbrella of services that CRI offers will create efficiencies that will increase the financial resources available to directly serve the individuals in all programs. We are honored that CRI was given this opportunity and excited about the opportunities this affiliation will bring with our common missions of service to others.”

Community Resources was organized as a private, nonprofit agency in 1986. It is the sole Community Action Agency for the 11-county area known as West Central West Virginia.

The agency serves low-to-moderate income individuals and families in those 11 counties by promoting the spirit of communities through leadership, education, resources and opportunities that empower families to become self-sufficient, thus creating a community where everyone is a part of the solution.

Child nutrition programs are available to all children.
