Hall of Famer to speak at dinner

PARKERSBURG – A dinner to benefit the Circles Campaign of the Mid-Ohio Valley Inc. will be held in the Family Life Center at Stout Memorial United Methodist Church at Broad and 34th streets in Parkersburg on April 24.

Speaking at the event is Mike Bartrum, a former tight end for Marshall University’s Thundering Herd and NFL long snapper. He played for the New England Patriots and the Philadelphia Eagles, retiring in 2007, the same year that he was inducted into Marshall University’s Hall of Fame.

Bartrum is involved with youth groups in the Pomeroy/Meigs County area and is the football coach of his alma mater, Meigs High School.

Another featured speaker at the event is Tina Thomas, a Circle Leader with the Circles Campaign, who will share her story of how the Circles initiative has empowered her to make transformative changes in her life.

Circles is a community-based initiative that assists families in poverty through education and relationships as they work to attain self-sufficiency. Its mission is to empower people from every economic background to solve poverty in their community through individual transformation and community change.

Proceeds from the dinner will support programming for Circles families and community engagement, said Dina Andrews, director.
