Tickets remain for Heritage Ramblers
PARKERSBURG – Tickets remain for the U.S. Air Force Heritage Ramblers, a jazz band performing in a free concert 7:30 p.m. March 15 at the Smoot Theatre.
But while free tickets remain for the show, Smoot Executive Director Felice Jorgeson advises residents not to wait until the last minute.
“I wouldn’t put it off,” she said.
Specializing in Dixieland jazz, the Heritage Ramblers is affiliated with the Air Force’s Heritage of America Band. Among the artists in the groups repertoire are Louis Armstrong, Sidney Bechet, Jack Teagarden and Bix Beiderbecke.
The band was formed in 2010 and is under the direction of Tech. Sgt. John Garcia. Other players are Master Sgt. Jennifer Dashnaw on clarinet, Staff Sgt. James Lantz on trumpet, Master Sgt. Mathew Dunsmore on tuba, Staff Sgt. Timothy Rogers on guitar and Staff Sgt. Darren Raybourne on drums.
Tickets are available at the Smoot Theatre on Fifth Street, The Parkersburg News and Sentinel on Juliana Street and the band offices at Parkersburg High and Parkersburg South High schools.
While tickets are free, allotments of up to five tickets are available.
Several hundred tickets have been distributed at the Smoot and more than 350 from the newspaper. The Smoot, a Vaudevillian-era theater, has 720 seats.
Residents have been excited, Jorgeson said.
“Seems like the people who have gotten the tickets sincerely want to come,” Jorgeson said.
The concert, sponsored by the Smoot and The Parkersburg News and Sentinel, starts at 7:30 p.m. Doors open at 7 p.m.
