Dunlap going on book tour

PARKERSBURG – Jeremy Dunlap of Wood County, a speaker for training and development, has penned a new book “Danny: The Virtues Within (What America Can Learn from Navy SEAL Danny Dietz)”.

The recently released book is about the young life of Navy SEAL Danny Dietz of Colorado. In consultation with Danny’s parents, Dan Dietz and Cindy Dietz-Marsh, this book chronicles the life of a young boy who embodied the virtues that make the SEALs the American heroes that they are, said Dunlap of Washington,W.Va.

The book is a compilation of essays that gives the reader a look into the early years of a young man whose experiences then formed the virtues exhibited many years later on the mountains of Afghanistan, said Dunlap, a 1993 graduate of Parkersburg South High School.

The movie “Lone Survivor,” which premiered nationwide recently, in part features the final moments of Navy SEAL Danny Dietz. Dietz was killed by enemy fire while serving in Afghanistan in 2005.

A book tour with the parents of the fallen SEAL began on Jan. 8 in Albany, N.Y., where Dunlap said he had the idea of asking the veterans of the military to sign his book about another American hero, Danny Dietz.

According to Dunlap, “This Signatures of Virtue tour is not just about obtaining an autograph, but also collecting the autographs of our military veterans. This tour is also about those who have served in the Armed Forces, are presently serving or even have family serving our country, and are continuing the sacrifice for freedom, and deserve the honor.”

The tour will take Dunlap to Denver, Columbus, Akron, Washington, D.C., Chesapeake, Va., Walter Reed Medical Center, Austin and San Antonio, Texas, to name a few places.

Dunlap said a book signing hosted by the Christian Supply Centre in Parkersburg will be announced soon.

In additional to being the parents of an American hero, Dan Dietz and Cindy Dietz-Marsh dedicate their time to causes bearing Danny’s name, according to a press release.

Cindy sits on the board of the Danny Dietz Memorial Fund, awarding college scholarships to students who qualify. Dan works with at-risk youth through the Danny Dietz Training Institute.

These organizations continue to extol the values and virtues upheld by their son, the press release says.

In his work as a public speaker, Dunlap has a client list of household names, but said he is most proud to have worked with the United States Military, serving four of the five branches.

“Danny: The Virtues Within” is published by Winters Publishing Group with the forward written by former Navy Secretary Don Winter.

Among the book’s endorsements are Texas Gov. Rick Perry, former U.S. Rep. Tom Tancredo, Peter Berg, director of the movie “Lone Survivor,” and Phil Taylor, founder of the American Soldiers Project, the press release states.

The book can be purchased online through Amazon and Books a Million.
