Matheny Motors officially opens new showroom
PARKERSBURG – After months of work, longtime local dealership Matheny Motors officially opened its new Buick and GMC showroom.
Tim Matheny, president and general manager of Matheny Motors, said the 91-year-old company opened the new 8,000 square feet facility in January and the new showroom at the corner of Third and Ann streets will allow for the display of four cars inside.
In addition to a new showroom, Matheny said the addition contains a new service drive and waiting area.
“In the rear is our service drive and reception area for service customers,” he said. “The entire facility covers three acres for the new showroom and is adjacent to our former showroom that is now our pre-owned showroom.”
Matheny said the pre-owned lot is two acres. The entire project, from planning to completion, took a little more than a year.
“From start to end with all the planning was an 18-month process,” he said. “Actual construction lasted about nine to 10 months.”
Matheny said the new facility is focused on the customer.
“It made a lot of sense since it brings our customers into the showroom area,” he said. “While the customers are waiting on their vehicle to be worked on, they can mingle with their sales person and look at the new vehicles on display.
“It’s really focused more for the customer in this case.”
In addition, the new service center features a convenient drop-off service bay with a customer-friendly waiting lounge equipped with WiFi work stations, large screen television, refreshment self-service station with complimentary beverages and snacks, and a children’s playroom with toys and television.
Matheny said the hours will not change. The showroom hours will be from 9 a.m.-7 p.m. and the service center hours will be from 7:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m.
Matheny added the new showroom will have a unique feature.
“Between the showrooms (the former Suzuki showroom) will be the new Corner Cafe that will open during the second week of June,” he said. “So it will be the Corner Cafe at Matheny Motors is sort of the branded name of it. That will offer a place for our customer while they wait on their vehicle – and have a piece of Marilyn’s pie,” referring to Corner Cafe owner Marilyn Plum.
The Corner Cafe will have daily specials and its hours will be 6 a.m.-8 p.m. Monday-Friday and 7 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
