J.C. Penney in Vienna names new general manager

VIENNA — J.C. Penney at the Grand Central Mall has named a new general manager.

Mark Lewis’s appointment is immediately effective. He has been with the company for almost three years and has 10 years of retail management experience.

“I am thrilled to be serving as general manager and leading an extraordinary team of dedicated associates who are passionate about delivering great products and exceptional service to our customers,” said Lewis “I look forward to serving the Vienna community and ensuring every customer’s shopping experience at JCPenney is worth their time, money and effort.”

Lewis has held roles of increasing importance at J.C. Penney in West Virginia and Ohio and has proven experience increasing year-over-year store sales and credit acquisition. Lewis is transferring the store from Steubenville where he was general manager for more than a year. Prior to joining the company, he held management positions at Office Depot.

J.C. Penney opened in Grand Central Mall on Sept. 21, 1972. The company began in 1902 as the Golden Rule store in Kemmerer, Wyo.

J.C. Penney Co. is among the nation’s largest apparel and home retailers with 860 stores in the United States and Puerto Rico. It employs 98,000 people.
