Great American Home Show coming to Vienna this weekend

VIENNA — It will be a Do-It-Yourselfers paradise during the 2019 Great American Home Show.

Area homeowners planning a variety of projects in the coming year will have the chance to examine a wide range of products and services available locally during the annual show that will be held Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the former Sears store at the Grand Central Mall.

There are 55 exhibitors scheduled with space for more, said Trisha McKay, show organizer and executive officer with the Homebuilders Association of the Mid-Ohio Valley.

“We are having more exhibitors this year than we have had in a while,” she said. “We have more than 50 percent more space than we’ve had in the past.”

She is continuing to accept exhibitors right up to the time of setup for the show.

The home show generally features builders, remodelers, landscapers, heating-and-cooling experts, kitchen-and-bath specialists, foundation repair, patio builders, pavement companies, carpet services, energy-efficient windows and doors, home security, home design, fencing, insulation products, satellite television, and lawn and garden equipment. The Great American Home Show has been an annual event in the area for more than 30 years and remains popular with local residents. Attendance for the weekend usually runs between 3,500-4,000 people.

“We will have a bit of everything,” McKay said. “We have a lot of new exhibitors this year.

“I am anxious to see what they will be showing.”

This year, they will have a number of non-profits there as well including the Williamstown Relay For Life, Healing Waters which takes wounded vets flyfishing and Habitat For Humanity which helps build homes for people in need who then buy the homes through a zero-percent interest mortgage.

Concessions will be available throughout the show. They will be manned by local vocational students involved in the construction trades who also helped with the setup for the show.

“They help so much,” McKay said. “They are a great group. I couldn’t do this without them.”

Although it is winter, people are starting to think about projects they want to do in the spring and summer with many people needing to make contacts now, gather information and get things lined up, McKay said.

“If people have questions, they will have someone they can talk to at the show,” she said. “This is the right time to talk face-to-face with someone.”

Meetings and home visits can be set up with vendors at the show. It is also a good time to get on a company’s schedule for the spring and summer to schedule a variety of projects from deck installations, landscaping, room additions and more.

Wincore Windows & Doors is one of the main sponsors of the The Great American Home Show. The company will be providing three $5,000 window and/or door packages to be auctioned at a live auction 5 p.m. Sunday. Rob Fouss of Fouss Auctions and Appraisals will be conducting the auction.

Winners can pay with cash or check after the auction.

The packages will be good for a year.

People will be able to access the show through Sears’ mall entrance as well as the outside front entrance.

The show will be Friday from 5-9 p.m.; Saturday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.; and Sunday from noon to 6 p.m.

Admission $3 for adults and children are free.
