Belpre Area Chamber of Commerce plans dinner

BELPRE — The Belpre Area Chamber of Commerce will hold its 81st annual Dinner, “A Night of Awards and Celebration,” Oct. 25 at the Grand Pointe Conference and Reception Center, 1500 Grand Central Ave., Vienna.

A social hour will be held 5:30-6:30 p.m. followed by dinner, keynote speaker, and “A Night of Awards.”

Keynote speaker is Greg Kozera, director of marketing for Shale Crescent USA. Kozera will discuss local economic impact.

Kozera has worked in the oil and natural gas industry for more than 35 years and is the immediate-past president of the Virginia Oil and Gas Association. Kozera earned a bachelor’s in agricultural engineering from West Virginia University and a master’s in environmental engineering from Marshall University.

He is the president of Learned Leadership, is an assistant coach to the boys soccer team at Charleston Catholic High School, and often speaks to high school and college students on the subject of leadership. Kozera asserts himself as an expert on leadership in his book “Learned Leadership.”

Kozera partakes in speaking engagements for professionals in his industry and is a frequent motivational columnist for various trade publications. In his third book, “Just the Fracks, Ma’am,” he breaks down the facts about this method of harnessing energy in a way that anyone can understand. Kozera has appeared as a guest on over 60 radio programs across the country on the topics of energy and hydraulic fracturing. Kozera is a weekly communist for The Parkersburg News and Sentinel.

The mission of the Shale Crescent USA economic development initiative is to encourage business growth in the Ohio Valley based upon low natural gas prices that allow manufacturers to operate more efficiently while producing products more economically with access to water and half the population of the United States and Canada.

Shale Crescent USA is made up of business leaders, regional economic development partners, non-profit and non- governmental agencies, area Chambers of Commerce, utilities, financial and educational organizations throughout Ohio, West Virginia and Pennsylvania. The goal is to seamlessly provide information and resources for companies and entrepreneurs looking to relocate, expand or startup. Information and resources include available properties, access to capital, workforce, incentives and taxes, energy and utilities as well as connections to political, financial, supplier and customer networks.

Features of the event included a video presented during the 5:30 social hour spotlighting Platinum Sponsors and Chamber networking opportunities. Stand-out businesses, individuals and organizations will be celebrated in the spotlight as winners in the “Night of Awards” are brought to front stage.

Special activities will be featured during the 5:30-6:30 social hour, sponsored by Pickering Associates. Cupcakes sponsored by Village Cakery and a “Coffee Bar” sponsored by Huntington Bank will bring the buffet-style dinner to a close, according to Waller.

Awards include Belpre Citizen of the Year, Entrepreneur/Small Business of the Year, Spirit of the Chamber, Business Person of the Year, Spirit of the Community, BACC Youth Chamber Citizen of the Year, Business of the Year, and Nonprofit of the Year.

The chamber Business Marketing Scholarship Grant winner will be announced.
