Buy Belpre campaign debuts
BELPRE — The Economic Development Committee of Belpre Area Chamber of Commerce will kicks off its Buy Belpre initiative with an event 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Dec. 9 at Peddler’s Junction, 1818 Washington Blvd.
Buy Belpre will showcase what Belpre has to offer in shopping, dining and other services.
The event facilitated by Peddler’s Junction will include a live radio broadcast 2-4 p.m., a 50/50 drawing with proceeds going to Belpre Volunteer Fire Department, a meet-and-greet with Belpre Mayor Mike Lorentz, a toy drive, pictures with Santa including with pets on a leash, a coloring contest for kids, discounts, food and family activities.
Special “Buy Belpre” decals will be visible on many businesses in the community and available to shoppers for their cars, with the goal to raise awareness of what the Belpre community has to offer.
“We encourage everyone to get on board with the concept of economic growth in Belpre and the surrounding area. The decals really mean that you ‘Buy In’ to all that Belpre stands for – a good place to start a business, to buy a home, to work, get your medical needs met, and to shop. The entire area is a great place to live, work and raise a family,” said Bob Rauch, economic development committee chairman.
Decals will be supplied to business for their display on doors and windows. A limited number will be available for visitors to the Dec. 9 event.
The decals will be used in the “Let Karen Catch You in Belpre” promotion on Dec. 11-14 when Chamber Director Karen Waller will watch for cars with decals in Belpre.
She will award the recipient with a gift certificate to a Belpre business.
While supplies last, decals are available at Peddlers Junction, the city of Belpre and the chamber office.
Waller said the project goes hand in hand with the Economic Development Committee’s mission statement to nurture and enhance the Belpre business community by fostering retention and promoting recruitment of business.
“Peddlers Junction always has the best interest of the Belpre business community at heart. The Tanner family as business owners work to promote shopping and dining in all the businesses in the area, particularly the locally-owned ones,” Waller said. “Our committee is seeking to encourage businesses to locate in our area plus to foster the growth of those businesses who have already chosen to locate here.”
Abbey Tanner of Peddler’s Junction said: “We are excited to welcome the area into our store as well as to spread the word about the entire Belpre business community. We want this event to be the first of many that ‘drive business to Belpre.’ We believe that once people see what Belpre has to offer, they will be back.”
