News and Sentinel Thanksgiving early edition available Wednesday

PARKERSBURG — Readers wanting to get a jump on their Black Friday shopping will again be able to purchase the Thanksgiving edition of The Parkersburg News and Sentinel a day early.

Joe Tranquill, director of circulation for The Parkersburg News and Sentinel and Marietta Times, said the Thanksgiving edition has become a holiday tradition with thousands of families in our region.

“This is why we are so excited about getting an early edition to the public on Wednesday,” he said.

The Parkersburg News and Sentinel and Marietta Times Thanksgiving Early Edition package will be sold from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday at the Parkersburg News and Sentinel side parking lot off of Juliana Street, at the Marietta Times office at 700 Channel Lane in Marietta, and at Stacey’s Dance Studio at 205 Pike St. in Marietta.

Tranquill said the Parkersburg News and Stacey’s Dance Studio locations will each be marked with a giant inflatable turkey.

Current home delivery customers will receive normal home delivery on Thursday, Thanksgiving morning, but they can come to one of the three locations Wednesday to pick up an early edition package for $5, he said.

“The package includes all the Marietta Times and Parkersburg News and Sentinel Thanksgiving fliers along with a lot of editorial content and in-paper advertising,” Tranquill said. “The cost is only $5, and your savings will be enormous. We only have a limited amount to be sold, so get to one of the three locations early while supplies last.”

Two years ago when the early edition sales began, the response was so enormous traffic was backed up along Juliana Street in front of the newspaper. Since then, Tranquill said, efforts have been made to give customers a broader window of time, and last year wait times were significantly reduced.

“With the seven-hour window, we do not anticipate much of a wait time,” he said. “We are very excited to be offering our customers a chance to get a jump on their Black Friday plans. Our Thanksgiving edition is packed with money-saving opportunities and is the must have for Black Friday planning.”
