Mid-Ohio Valley chamber happy with Amazing Chase results

PARKERSBURG — If the comments received for the first Amazing Chamber Chase are any indication, it looks like there may be another Chase in 2018.

“I’m delighted with the response and enthusiasm of the participants,” said Jill Parsons, executive director of the Chamber of Commerce of the Mid-Ohio Valley. “We will certainly look to hold this event again next year and would be appreciative of anyone who would like to join the planning committee.”

Parsons said after Thursday’s events many of the participants wanted to do it again.

“It’s very overwhelming, the response was that this event was a ton of fun and the teams can’t wait to do it again next year!” she said. “The first team made it in around 7 p.m., so about one hour and 15 minutes was the fastest time to complete the 10 clues and activities.

“One team reported their pedometer reported the route they took was just under one mile.”

Parsons said there were 26 teams in the first event representing area businesses, organizations and even government entities.

“The ‘Treasured Chests’ (a team comprised of DuPont employees and family members) won for Team Spirit (costumes),” she said. “Dr. Lisa’s Minions and the Camden Capers were honorable mention.”

Almost all the teams found all the clues and were able to complete the activities before the 7:30 p.m. time frame, Parsons said.

“When the teams came in, I asked them which clue was the hardest — the Hornor and Harrison clue and the Rotary bench clue were mentioned the most often,” she said. “The yard Yahtzee activity at BB&T was one of the most popular. In total we had 130 teammates and 15 volunteers.”
