Parkersburg Area Association of Realtors to hold benefit bingo event

Benefits CASA for children

PARKERSBURG — The Parkersburg Area Association of Realtors will hold a purse bingo to benefit the Court Appointed Special Advocates for children 5 p.m. Sept. 11 at the First Presbyterian Church, 1341 Juliana St.

Raffle tickets will be available for $5 each or three for $10 for a black leather COACH handbag valued at $378. Bring a current-dated canned food item to be entered for a prize.

CASA serves Wood, Wirt, Pleasants, Ritchie and Doddridge counties in West Virginia.

Bingo starts at 6 p.m. Twenty games are $20 and extra packets are available for $5.

Advance ticket purchases are recommended.

For tickets or more information call 304-485-6626 or 304-488-0698. Buying six tickets together in advance will reserve a table, which sits up to eight people.

Food donations benefit the local Disabled American Veterans Chapter 32 at Murphytown.

The bingo is one of the several projects the realtors association does every year. In 2016/17, the group stocked the food closets at several local schools on two occasions and is in contact with several educators to privately help with at-risk needs.

It has held a food and supplies drive for the Humane Society with Pet Supplies Plus of Vienna.

It has assisted Urban Ministries, Catholic Charities, Essentially Yours, Habitat for Humanity, Good Shepard Food Pantry and the DAV.

For the holidays this year, the association will hold its second Realtor Nite Out with a live auction of items to generate $10,000 to give to referred individuals and students, making their season brighter. This is made possible through sponsorships from local business partners.

In 2016 the group assisted 20 families and individuals.

The group’s Community Service Committee has adopted the slogan “Have A Heart Realtors Helping Others.”
